Just a few days ago Indra finished her internship at our Huaraz office, so there was no better time to ask her about her experience in Peru.
Huaraz is a city of mountains, an icon of the Andes, a tranquil and gorgeous place with less than 150 thousand neighbors where Indra lived for about twenty weeks. Now we are more than sure that she keeps Huaraz and Peru in her heart, especially after making bread with Lucy, Pablo’s wife (Pablo is RESPONS co-founder and Sustainability Director), and harvesting “oca”, a type of potato used to prepare one of the tasty traditional meals of Vicos, our most emblematic destination in terms of community experiences at only forty minutes from the city.
Our office in Huaraz is like a little version of the city itself, a small place full of friends. That’s what Indra was looking, because she wanted to learn about the business and about RESPONS philosophy, but she also contributed a lot thanks to her knowledge of the Spanish language, that allowed her to do many things on her own, besides that, her academic preparation gave her the necessary tools to do pretty much everything.
She is twenty years old and she took care of sales, then operations and a bit of administrative duties. She had a hard time dealing with the pace at which things are done in Peru, but that did not stop her and haven’t stop anybody else.
But for her it was not just about working, during her internship she was visited by her parents and all together went to visit Cuzco and Machu Picchu, the Colca canyon, Paracas, Ica and Huacachina. But the best (she says about her parents impressions) was Huayhuash, and we quote:
