Trip designed by Travel Expert Guido
Settle in to your hotel and scout out the neighborhood where you can dine on your first Peruvian dinner. Visit the downtown area to check out the historical Spanish center with its classic architecture. Soak in the hospitable spirit as you venture through town to visit the local markets, engage with the locals, and explore at your own pace.
Arguably the most fun part of the trip -- so long as you don't forget sunblock! Otherwise...it may not be so fun. Go on sea safaris, bike tours to scenic beaches, a wild buggy adventure in the sand dunes, check out the impressive geoglyphs by boat, and of course, a moment to watch the striking sunset.
After staying in this city, you will understand why the locals are so in love with it. Our Digital Concierge will provide you with tips for navigating this charming city, as you acclimatize to the altitude and visit authentic, delectable restaurants.
Venture to the countryside to spend a couple days engaging in local farm life. Your tasks will be greatly rewarded as you share the table with your hosts for a local dish. The chores of your home life will be given a new perspective as you herd llamas and milk cows! Walk ancient trails to ruins, a cemetery, spring waters, and witness condors soar above the gorges.
Temperatures start to drop as you make your way to Puno’s altiplano -- volcanoes, lagoons, and flamingos will keep you glued to the window until you arrive to Titicaca. Immerse yourself in the unique community of Titicaca, where you will stay with a local family atop a spectacular cliff above the lake and the Cordillera Real of Bolivia, with snowcapped mountains peaking over the horizon. Then catch a boat to Tikonata Island, letting the breeze brush your hair.
Travelling to this city is a synthesis of the Andean and Spanish cultures, luring keen travelers with its mythic temples, baroque churches and houses with ceramic bulls adorning the roofs when visiting the town of Pucara!. Try your hand at bartering in the overflowing central market. Check out the megalithic Sacsayhuaman to the bohemian San Blas to the exquisite Qoricancha.
Surrounded by epic mountains, explore the cultural epicenter of the Quechua, home to dazzling, colorful Andean blankets, cloaks, and Alpaca sweaters. Heeding the wise tips of our Digital Concierge, you will get lost in the wonder of the ancient town of Ollantaytambo.
This is the best alternative short route to Machu Picchu, as it takes you from whizzing downhill by bike from close to snowy peaks into the lush cloudforest where coffee plantations can be found! The route will bring you in contact with coffee farming families that will welcome you as a friend, before you hike through the cloud forests, getting closer to your most epic destination…
Breathtaking. Beyond words. The legendary granite citadel invokes insight, clarity, and humility. Our guide provides the ideal balance of information you need to appreciate Machu Picchu, getting all questions answered without inundating you with historical citations. Then hop on the train back to the city, and let your reflections sink in…
This is your day. You know this place now. Perhaps you pick up relics to bring home for loved ones, or mail those postcards, or visit a museum, or indulge in the special treats you've yet to try. (Again, our Digital Concierge is always at the ready, should you seek advice regarding what to do!)
If only the airport customs officials could see all of Peru’s treasures you’re taking home with you, they would probably stop you immediately. However, those treasures are safe in your memories and yours to take as a gift from our marvellous country. ¡Buen viaje!

Amazing, unforgettable experience for a solo female traveller!
It is so great to know that my trip has contributed to sustainable tourism, benefiting Peruvians as much as possible, rather than a big package-deal international company. Overall, my trip was a fantastic experience and I’ve come back home with a love of Peru and definitely wanting to return again to revisit some of the same places and explore more of the north as well!

We were very pleased with our trip, and especially with Eloy, our wonderful personal guide. The drivers were very helpful and friendly, and the hotels Responsible Travel selected for us turned out to be lovely places to stay. We are committed to sustainable travel, and we feel the trip was much more ecologically sound because we worked with a responsible company. Kudos to everyone involved!

Absolute aanrader. Wij zijn heel lovend over Responsible Travel!

My experience with Reponsable has just been fantastic. I find personalizing one´s trip an exciting way to explore not only Peru, but also other countries. I first had a WhatsApp call with Alejandro to explain him my destination, trip duration and especially, what are my interest points. After that, Alejandro returned me with his great insight and feedback, introducing me the routes & possibilities that I´d never thought or read that Cusco & Titicaca would offer me. - The guide that they offered me was amazing! Not only knowledgeable, but also very caring and good photographer (for a sole traveler, this is essential)! You can notice that, when they are well paid, they are more willing to perfect their job - Surprisingly, I did my first mountain bike in my life in Ollantaytambo - I did a llama trek solely, basically walked up to a hill in companion with apx 15 llamas, with 2 natives and had a quite picnic - I spent the whole Christmas with Titicaca´s natives and I even explored villages and regions in which seemingly I was the only foreigner during that period The whole wasn´t cheap, but certainly every penny was worthy taking into considerations that all the brand new experience that I had and all the unbelievable stuff I did.

Beautifully planned experience & and 24/7 support
We booked 3 days and 2 nights through the Colca Canyon. From the beginning, Responsible Peru took care of everything and finding out exactly what kind of trip we wanted while keeping the costs down. We had 2 homestays during our trip with one stay at Sibayo (wIth Eusebio and Nieves) and the next in Coporaque (With Amanda). The homestays were truly a great way to experience not only like in the Coca Canyon, but also in Peru in general. Not to mention the food was Authentically GREAT ! First Day: Arequipa to Chivay (as part of a group tour)- Followed by a private transfer to the Homestay in Sibayo. Second Day: Hike in the Canocota Canyon and transfer to Coporaque Third Day: Group tour to the Cruz de la Condor. - Transfer to Puno While this was the outline of the itinerary, there were several experiences within this that made it an experience to remember from the conversations with the families over dinner, to the beautiful views along the hike. It's a great way to contribute to the local communities and at the same time get to see a truly fascinating region. I must admit, even though I'm not a fan of group tours, the company was excellently selected and the tour leaders did a great job. I would definitly recommend incorporating Reponsible Peru during you trip through the country.

Excellent trip, good hotels, well organized and planned. We especially want to recommend our wonderful guide in the Andes, Eloy Chambi Molina. Very knowledgeable, deeply connected to the old culture, he taught us about the plants and flowers along the trails, the customs and practices of the peoples of the Inca empire. He added so much to our experience. A terrific very engaging person. Highly recommended.

Our intent was to do the Inca Trail and then see a bit of Peru. One of our friends recommended Responsible Travel - best decision we made. Alejandro and team made all the bookings: transport, hotels, restaurants, city guides, Inca Trail - we just had to show up. And since we paid upfront no issues at any of the establishments. The Inca Trail was super hard but super fun but Sonia our guide from Wayki was beyond good. In fact all the guides and drivers were really superb. We adjusted some of our arrangements on the go and the team at Responsible Travel were highly responsive and accommodating. We had a WhatsApp group and all our messages were immediately answered. Well run company, with a strong philosophy and lovely, warm people. When we go back to Peru, Responsible Travel will be our only option.

We spent almost 10 days with this excellent team in Peru and Bolivia. The whole tour was absolutely perfect! Organization, guides, support, hotels selection, local families etc etc. Resp travel agency is definitely one of the best organizations we have travelled with so far. I really wish there is more such professionals in this area in other countries!
