Located 45 minutes south-east of Cusco city, Hanaq Wasi (meaning House in the Sky in Quechua) offers the perfect opportunity to relax in a beautiful location and learn about Andean traditions, while participating in hands-on activities.

This beautiful house is owned and managed by Marlene and her son Diego. Both of them will be your hosts and guide you through all the activities. Making use of a ludic approach, they will enable you to be immersed in the Andean culture.
Tipón, the community were Hanaq Wasi is located, is known for its famous archaeological site of the same name. If you wish to and have some extra time, we recommend you pay a visit. In case you have already bought a Boleto Turístico before (a ticket granting access to various archaeological sites around Cusco), make sure to take it with you! If you don’t have one yet, you can buy it at the entrance of the site in Tipón.

Of course, it would be great to coordinate with Marlene and Diego before your arrival. Therefore, two days before your experience, you will receive a mail, in which we will give you their phone number (they use Whatsapp!).

This experience is the result of low-scale family entrepreneurship looking to give value to Andean traditions. During the workshops, you can recreate these traditions while listening to Diego and Marlene explain their origins. The two are doing a very important job in valorizing and spreading awareness about Andean culture.
In all workshops, local materials are used, such as the flour coming from the neighboring town of Oropesa. No disposable plastic is involved in the preparation of any of the crafts nor during any other activity at Hanaq Wasi.
Vegetarian and vegan options are always available on the menu, safe to drink (filtered) tap water is available at all times, and the majority of the electricity is powered by solar panels.
On top of that, Diego and Marlene regularly give money to support the education of the children of Tipón. Your participation in this activity will thus indirectly benefit this cause.
Yes, it is possible to hire a taxi in the booking options, for a maximum of 4 people, or more than one taxi if your group is larger.
You just have to proceed with the booking process and select this service checking the box and writing down the number of taxis you are requesting.
Note: the taxi will only pick you up and drop you off during the round trip Cusco-Hanaq Wasi-Cusco, so the car won’t be available at any other time different than the beginning and the end of your day. Neither if you are planning to visit the Archaeological site of Tipón. In this case you will have to make a deal, specifiying your intentions to the driver, and pay separately.
Let us know the name of your hotel or accomodation as a booking note, so the driver knows where to pick you up.

This is totally private, even if your group is smaller than the actual capacity of the place. The experience is dedicated to your group and only to your group.

Only if you decide to visit the neaby archaeological place of Tipón you will have to pay entrance fee, but if you have a Boleto turistico in your possesion (valid for the date), then your admission is already covered.
It is a touristic ticket that combines different attractions in one single bill, so make sure to have your Boleto Turístico with you (in case you have previously already bought one) during your stay in the Cusco region, and always check its validity (they expire after certain number of days). If you don’t have one yet, you can do so at the entrance of any of the attractions included. In this case you will need the Boleto Integral (100 soles p.p.) or the Boleto Circuito II (70 soles p.p.).

Marlene is a psychologist and she is the most convinced person about the mission of their entrepreneurship: “To make our Andean culture known in a theoretical and practical way, through the realization of our experiential workshops, generating unique experiences in the realization of the various activities we offer.”
She is a sweet and kind person that will always be around, and with whom you can practice your Spanish. Marlene is also very proud of her beautiful decorations in Hanaq Wasi, which make the place incredibly comfortable.
Diego is Marlene’s son, born in Lima and raised in Cusco. He studied Anthropology, but eventually slightly changed his path, dedicating his time to cultural tourism. Diego will be your main host, guide, and workshop facilitator. He speaks English and is learning French as well.
As you might be guessing, both Marlene and Diego are very knowledgeable and passionate about all the workshops they offer. You can learn a lot from them.
